![]() There is supposed to be a multi-player option, but I haven't touched it. The graphics are much improved over the last revision of this game, and there's been a lot of improvements in the user interface, and general streamlining of the game. In the era of MMO's, RTS's, and FPS's, I'm not aware of any other turn-by-turn franchise that has as large and as loyal a following. I've been a long-time Civ fan, and the turn-by-turn playstyle works very well for my busy schedule, allowing me to sit down for a turn or two before I need to run off. I am very glad that despite all the fame and existing expansion titles, this value package was put together and released for Civ series fans. Shorter time span of the game requires less time investment, and allows me to enjoy the process without stretching a single game over the course of many days.Overall, all-in-one hassle-free package creates a wonderful product that maximizes enjoyment. It has significantly different gameplay compared to Civ series. I haven't played the original game, and this game is a great bonus. Only hassle-free gaming.I am glad that this package includes Colonization. No hassle with swapping discs, no keys to enter, no DRM, and no need to keep the disc in the drive. I can't say which game is better, because gameplay is sufficiently unique in each game creating distinctly different experience. This game package definitely carries tremendous values: three Civ 4 games and Colonization on a DVD. Sid Meier was correct, when he said that each game is unique and people (like me) still play them. I played original Civ during my high-school years and once in a while I still load older versions. And to be able to Play them.Ĭivilization 4 series has already gathered massive amount of praise and huge fan crowd. But, shouldn't I be able to run the game, AT LEAST, on ALL lower settings?!!Does a NEW game ALWAYS have to put a choke-hold on older systems, to be considered NEW? How about making it More fun to play, as well as having the ability to be turned UP, for those who have the xtra strong Gaming systems?Loved being able to get these Three flavors, of a Great version, for less than I paid for the One Newest Version. One was a Calendar alarm, trying to break in, while saving. Why couldn't they have made the game different, without making it Impossible to play, without a NEW system. ![]() Someone apparently liked them, in the past.Got thru ALL Three mods, with Only Two crashes. Figured I'ld try the earlier versions out. No difference whether connected to Steam, or not.Saw Civ IV on retrolio. Also went from a 512meg HD graphics card, to a 1g Radeon. This was AFTER I added another 2gig of ram, for a total of 3g. Crashes when doing other memory intensive things. Crashes when it starts coming back, after ending a turn. The First Civ game I have purchased, was Civ 5. Start > All Programs > Games> for Colonization and Warlords, C > Program Files x86 > 2K > Civilization for the base game and BTS.It's all good, you just gotta look for it. I'll occasionally get an error saying my graphics card isn't high enough to run it, but I'm running the game on the highest visual settings and get no lag except for that occasional error. Some people are saying they can't find the files once they download. It may not take you directly to the install page, I had to do a search on my computer for "319" to find it and I was able to load the install manually.Once it installs, restart again and you're good to go.I'm running Windows 4 with Intel i7, 4 GB of Ram, and NVidia GeForce 310 M. Open BTS, click advanced and check for updates. The game doesn't offer it, I did however find it here:Download, install, restart. You download it, click install, and the game screen closes out and nothing happens. After some digging, I found the default version of this game is some where around 3.12, and in order to install patch 3.19 to play online, you need to install 3.17 first. When I tried to access the LAN or Online games, it prompted me to install Patch 3.19. I primarily play Beyond the Sword, I'm just a bigger fan of it. There are some patching problems with this game.
